What is Kiwanis?

Kiwanis is a global organization dedicated to serving children and communities through various service projects and programs. The organization’s mission is to improve the world, one child and one community at a time, by fostering leadership skills, promoting fellowship, and conducting service projects that address the needs of children.

Kiwanis clubs are typically community-based and are composed of volunteers who come together to plan and implement service projects, fundraising activities, and social events. These projects often focus on areas such as child health and wellness, education, hunger relief, and environmental sustainability.

Key aspects of Kiwanis include:

  1. Service Leadership Programs: Kiwanis sponsors several service leadership programs for children and young adults, including Key Club International for high school students, Circle K International for college students, and Builders Clubs for middle school students. These programs aim to develop leadership skills and encourage community service among young people.
  2. Fundraising: Kiwanis clubs organize various fundraising events and activities to support their service projects and charitable initiatives. These may include charity auctions, pancake breakfasts, golf tournaments, and more.
  3. Advocacy: Kiwanis International advocates for policies and initiatives that benefit children and communities. This may involve supporting legislation related to education, healthcare, child welfare, and other relevant issues.

Overall, Kiwanis plays a vital role in fostering community engagement, leadership development, and service to improve the lives of children worldwide.
